Curves down about half way down the shaft. Built with coil spring (flexible) shafts to accommodate the curve. Most of them rotate clockwise and tend to be lighter than the straight shafts.
Due to the coil spring shaft used on curved shaft trimmers, the recommended heads must be light enough not to stall or strain the engine. We have engineered light versions of our most popular heads specifically to fit curved shaft trimmers. The capacity of handling heavier heads also rest on the engine size. Commercial grade curved shafts with good quality coil spring shafts and bigger engines may be able use some of our heavier heads.
We recommend the following heads for regular curved shaft trimmers:
Curved shafts Echo, Stihl and Tanaka can use some of our heavier heads. Click on each brand for more information about the recommended GrassGator products.
Most curved shafts follow these instructions except for most curved shaft Echo, Stihl, Husqvarna and Weedeater that follow the straight shaft instructions even if the model is a curved shaft (there are always exceptions, click on the brand link for more information).
Homelite follow the curved shaft instructions even if the model is straight a shaft.
