Installation Instructions for the Stihl Adapter Kit

Before installing the GrassGator onto your trimmer, you have to remove the original line head from your trimmer by removing the spool cover, the spool, and the spring. You will also remove the original spool housing from the shaft by lifting it off.

Once you are down to the bare shaft, install the metal adapter as shown. The round hole on the adapter goes against the nut on top of the shaft. The hex shaped hole on the adapter must be facing the GrassGator head.

The hex shaped hole on the adapter will not go over the nut on the shaft (flip it the other way as shown on the picture).

Next, select the nut from the Grass Gator kit that fits the shaft of your trimmer. Drop the nut into the hexagon recess area in the GrassGator head.

Slide the GrassGator head with the nut in it down onto the shaft. Use the GrassGator head as a wrench and screw it onto the trimmer. It only needs to be hand tight and there should be no space/play between the shaft and the GrassGator head.
